Solubility: soluble in water and some organic solvents, such as ethanol/water, propanol/water, dichloroethane, etc. in appropriate proportions. The aqueous solution has surface activity, high transparency and stable performance. The solubility varies with viscosity, the lower the viscosity, the greater the solubility.
Thermal gel properties: Different specifications of products have different gel temperatures. As the methoxy content decreases, the gel point increases, the water solubility decreases, and the surface activity decreases.
Dissolution method:
A. Take the required amount of hot water, put it in a container and heat it to above 80°C, and gradually add this product under slow stirring. The HMC initially floats on the water surface, but is gradually dispersed to form a uniform slurry. Cool down the solution.
B. Or heat 1/3 or 2/3 of the hot water to above 85ºC, add HMC to obtain hot water slurry, then add the remaining amount of cold water, keep stirring, and cool the resulting mixture to serve
Properties: white or light yellow-brown powder or fine particles, hygroscopic. It is easily dispersed in hot or cold water. The aqueous solution is stable at pH 2-10. The pH of 1% solution is 6.5~8.0. It has the characteristics of thickening ability, salt discharge, low ash content, pH stability, water retention, dimensional stability, excellent film-forming properties, and extensive enzyme resistance, dispersibility and adhesion
Uses: Biochemical research. It can be used as thickener, dispersant, emulsifier and film-forming agent.
