Properties: white needle crystal or yellowish freeze-dried powder. Molecular weight 25000 (pancreas). Soluble in water is a broad-spectrum proteolytic enzyme characterized by the decomposition of insoluble elastin, which can be extracted from animal pancreas or fermented by microorganisms. Elastase extracted and purified from animal pancreas is an endopeptidase, containing 240 amino acid residues, isoelectric point pi9.5, the best pH 8.1-8.8, at 4-6 ºC, pH 5-10 enzyme activity can be maintained for several days, freeze-dried powder can be preserved for 6-12 months below 5 ºC, inactivated in case of strong acid, which can catalyze the hydrolysis of elastin peptidase or other peptide bond formed by neutral amino acid.
Purpose: biochemical research. Microbial elastase, like trypsin, has a wide range of hydrolytic properties. It can not only degrade elastin, but also decompose casein, gelatin, fibrin, hemoglobin, albumin and other proteins. This enzyme can increase the activity of lipoproteins and has the function of a-lipoproteins. It can prevent the synthesis of cholesterol in vivo and promote its conversion into cholic acid
