Properties: Light brownish-red or reddish-brown powder-like microcrystals, a natural dye extracted from moss plants. Fourteen kinds of dyes can be separated by chromatography. The main components are the above-mentioned 8, while the structures of the other 6 components remain unclear. It is red in ethanol, acetone and acetic acid, and light blue-purple in dilute alkaline solutions. It is almost insoluble in water, ether, chloroform, benzene and carbon disulfide. The maximum absorption wavelength is 579nm.
Usage: Biochemical research. It can be used as a microscopic staining agent and a biological staining agent, such as a flagellar mordant. Examine the elastic tissue in the sputum
